Virtual University Fall 2025 Admission

MS Computer Science Eligibility Criteria

The MS Computer Science program is ideal for students looking to specialize in advanced areas of computing. The eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • Minimum Education: 16 years of education in:
    • BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering
    • M.Sc. in Computer Science, MCS, MIT
    • Computer/IT/Software Engineering or related disciplines
  • CGPA Requirement: Minimum 2.00 out of 4.00 or First Division (if GPA system not applicable)
  • Deficiency Courses: Required for candidates from Engineering backgrounds (non-CS majors)
  • Entry Test: Must pass VU’s Entry Test with at least 50% marks
  • Merit-Based Admission: Limited seats allocated strictly on merit

MBA (Equivalent to MS) Eligibility Criteria

VU offers an MBA (Equivalent to MS) for professionals looking to enhance their managerial and strategic thinking skills:

  • Minimum Education: 16 years in any discipline with:
    • 50% marks or 2.00 CGPA out of 4.00
  • Field Relevance: Applicants with backgrounds in Business, Commerce, Management, or Public Administration may get up to 30 credit hours exemption
  • Entry Test: VU’s GAT-General Format Entry Test with at least 50% score
  • Interview: Shortlisted candidates must pass an interview

BS Programs in Computer Science & IT Faculty

These programs include BSCS, BSIT, BS Software Engineering, and BS Data Science.

(I) For Intermediate Students (12 years of education)

  • Minimum Requirement: 50% marks in Intermediate (HSSC) or equivalent approved by IBCC
  • Math Deficiency Clause:
    • Students without Mathematics in Intermediate must complete two 6-credit-hour Math courses in the first year

(II) For Students with 14 Years of Education

  • Minimum Requirement: 45% marks in Bachelor’s (BA/BSc/ADP) from an HEC-recognized institution
  • Course Mapping: VU’s Equivalence Committee will evaluate courses and define the remaining degree duration

Faculty of Management – Eligibility Criteria

Programs under the Faculty of Management include degrees in BBA, Accounting and Finance, BBIT, Public Administration, Commerce and others.

  • Basic Requirement: FA/FSc/ICS/I.Com (2 years) with at least 45% marks
  • Zero Semester:
    • Available for students with less than 45% marks
  • A-Level Students: Must submit IBCC Equivalence Certificate
  • Lateral Entry (14-Year Education):
    • Students with BA/BSc/ADP can apply for 5th-semester entry, subject to course equivalency

Faculty of Arts – Eligibility Criteria

Programs under the Faculty of Arts include degrees in Mass Communication, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Education, English, B.ed Programs and others.

  • Basic Requirement: FA/FSc/ICS/I.Com (2 years) with at least 45% marks
  • Zero Semester:
    • Available for students with less than 45% marks
  • A-Level Students: Must submit IBCC Equivalence Certificate
  • Lateral Entry (14-Year Education):
    • Students with BA/BSc/ADP can apply for 5th-semester entry, subject to course equivalency

Faculty of Science & Technology

BS Mathematics

  • Eligibility: Intermediate / A-Level (or equivalent) with Mathematics and minimum 45% marks
  • Note: A-Level students must submit an IBCC equivalence certificate

BS Statistics

  • Eligibility: Intermediate / A-Level (or equivalent) with Statistics and minimum 45% marks
  • Note: Equivalence Certificate required from IBCC for A-Level students

BS Biotechnology & BS Zoology

  • Eligibility: Intermediate (Pre-Medical) or A-Level with Biology, at least 45% marks
  • Note:
    • A-Level students need IBCC equivalence
    • Limited merit-based seats
    • BS Entry Route applicants are evaluated based on merit and exemptions

Virtual University Zero Semester

The Zero Semester at Virtual University is a foundation program for students who do not meet the minimum required marks (Less than 45% in intermediate or ADP/Bachelor Degrees) or CGPA (Less than 2.0) for VU admission.

Zero Semester Eligibility:

  • Students with required degrees but:
    • Less than 45% marks in FA/FSc or BA/BSc/ADP
    • CGPA below 2.00 out of 4.00 in Bachelor’s/ADP degrees 
  • After successful completion, students may qualify for full program admission
