VU Overseas Examination Guide – Spring 2025

1. 🛫 Overseas Examination Guidelines

The Spring 2025 Mid-Term Exams will be conducted online using VUTES 2.1.1 software for students appearing from abroad. Adherence to the rules in the Overseas Examination Student Handbook is mandatory.

  2. Send a ticket via:
    Examinations → Conduct → Datesheet Queries

2. 💻 Software Setup Instructions

Ensure all the following software is installed on a Windows 10/11 64-bit laptop/PC with:

  • Admin rights

  • Language set to English (US)

  • Antivirus temporarily disabled

Note for Mac Users: Exam software is not compatible with macOS. Use Boot Camp to dual-boot Windows on Intel-based Macs (not supported for M1 or higher chips).

  • Login ID: Your Student ID (e.g., BC25020xxxx)

  • Password: Same as above

📝 Checklist During Demo:

  • Confirm all questions are visible.

  • Ensure external webcam is working.

  • Complete the test and submit.

  • No invigilator presence; no need to respond to messages.

  • Use actual exam credentials only on exam day.

4. 🧾 Examination Day Guidelines

Follow these steps precisely for a successful exam experience.

⏰ 20 Minutes Before Exam

  • Launch:

    • VUTES 2.1.1

    • AnyViewer

    • AnyDesk

    • Iriun camera

⏳ 15 Minutes Before Exam

  • Log in to VUTES using your credentials from the datesheet.

  • Share AnyViewer and AnyDesk ID with the invigilator.

  • Invigilator will:

    • Verify identity

    • Check webcam view & microphone

    • Confirm system readiness

🟢 Exam Start

  • After inspection, your attendance is marked.

  • Read instructions carefully.

  • Complete the exam within the allocated time.

🚫 Avoid Violations – Refer to the Student Handbook for rules. Misbehavior can result in exam cancellation.

5. ❓ FAQs & Troubleshooting

Q1: Can I use only my laptop’s built-in camera?

No. An external webcam (via USB or Iriun mobile app) is required.

Q2: “Your system did not respond” error?

Fix: Install both:

  • Microsoft VC++ 2012 (x64)

  • Microsoft VC++ 2015–2022 (x64)

If error appears during the exam:

  • Minimize windows → Click “Resume”

Q3: Connectivity alert with server?

  • Fix 1: Avoid public Wi-Fi or office networks.

  • Fix 2: Use private or mobile internet.

  • Fix 3: Restart router or use wired internet.

Q4: “Login does not exist” error?

Login becomes active 15 minutes before your scheduled exam time.

Q5: Iriun not detected in VUTES?

  • Uninstall antivirus software.

  • Disable built-in webcam via Device Manager.

Q6: Mobile Iriun app not detected?

Ensure both PC and phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Q7: Small webcam window and large font?

Adjust display settings:

  • Scale: 100%

  • Resolution: 1600×900 or lower

  • Restart VUTES

Q8: Can’t paste equations or drawings into VUTES?

Workaround:

  1. Paste content into MS Word or Paint

  2. Copy again → Paste into VUTES

Q9: Missed the exam?

Steps to Reschedule:

  1. Wait 24 hours after original exam.

  2. Log into https://vulms.vu.edu.pk

  3. Go to:
    Student Services → Examinations Department → Reschedule

  4. Select city as “Overseas”

  5. Submit and check your VU email for confirmation.

  6. Reprint your entrance slip from https://datesheet.vu.edu.pk
